Shidarta has been a full-time faculty member at Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) since 2012. He earned his Doctor of Laws from Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, graduating in 2004. His distinguished academic career culminated in his appointment as Professor of Legal Philosophy in 2022. Since his undergraduate years, he has maintained a strong commitment to scholarly writing. His academic productivity is reflected in his ResearchGate profile, which features more than 600 publicly accessible publications. At BINUS, Professor Shidarta teaches in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He also serves as a lecturer at Diponegoro University, Universitas Islam Indonesia, and several other higher education institutions. In addition, he has been invited on multiple occasions as a visiting professor at universities outside Indonesia, including Cheng Shiu University (Taiwan), Kozminski University (Poland), and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (Malaysia). Professor Shidarta’s scholarly work spans a broad range of fields, including legal philosophy, legal ethics, legal reasoning, legal research methodology, consumer protection law, competition law, and the philosophy of science. A significant portion of his research is devoted to the analysis of judicial decisions, with particular emphasis on judicial reasoning, legal argumentation, consistency in adjudication, and the development of legal doctrines through case law. His expertise in this area has led to research collaborations and commissioned studies supported by prominent public institutions, including the Judicial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, contributing to the advancement of judicial accountability and the quality of legal decision-making in Indonesia. Beyond his research and teaching, Professor Shidarta has played an active role in strengthening Indonesia’s legal academic community. He is a founding member and has served in key leadership positions in several scholarly and professional organizations, including the Indonesian Association for Legal Philosophy (AFHI), the Forum of Competition Law Lecturers (FDPU), and the Association of Information and Communication Technology Law Lecturers (ADHTIK). Through these roles, he has contributed to fostering academic collaboration, promoting legal scholarship, and advancing interdisciplinary research within Indonesian legal education.
