Dr. Erni Herawati is a legal scholar and researcher whose academic expertise encompasses law, communication studies, notarial law, media studies, land law, legal aid, and access to justice. Her multidisciplinary educational background enables her to examine legal issues through doctrinal, institutional, communicative, and socio-cultural perspectives. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya. She subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Communication Studies and a Master’s degree in Notarial Law from Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta, before completing her Doctorate in Law at the same university. Her scholarly publications include The Construction of Second-Life Realities among Online Game Players: A Study of the Formation of Reality and Virtual Communities; Media Ethics and Functions in Television Broadcasting: A Study of the “Yuk Keep Smile” Programme on Trans TV; The Role of Mass Media in Constructing Cosplayers’ Self-Identity, Social Reality, and Hyperreality; The Implementation of the Rechtsverwerking Principle in Indonesia’s Land Registration System; and Encouraging the Establishment of Legal Clinics to Broaden Access to Justice for the Poor. Her research has also addressed The Implications of Online-Game Characteristics for the Formation of Player Experiences; A Legal Analysis of Home-Ownership Financing Agreements: A Study of House-Purchase Transactions through Murabahah Financing; and The Implementation of Legal Clinics under Law No. 16 of 2011 on Legal Aid in Jakarta and Bandung. Through her interdisciplinary scholarship, Dr. Herawati contributes to the advancement of legal knowledge at the intersection of communication, digital culture, land administration, property financing, legal education, and access to justice.
